Fountain of Santa Irea

Fountain of Santa Irea

T his very beautiful stone fountain is still very visited both by pilgrims (as it is located next to the Way of Santiago) and the neighbours in the area. There was an image of the Saint Irene (Irea in Galician), which dated back to 1692. This icon was carved in granite and was a little over half a metre tall. The image was stolen in 1989. The legend tells us that the water from this fountain was used to irrigate the gardens and do away with plagues.
